- Can I still sign up for the Pilot?
No, enrollment in the 4 state Pilots closed at the end of 2006.
- How can I find out if I am eligible for the Benefit Offset?
A: Contact your state pilot representative and he/she will be able to get you the information you need. Select your state from the menu to the left for the contact information of your state pilot representative.
- I signed up for the Benefit Offset Pilot but I don’t know if I can work more and still keep my SSDI benefits. How can I find out what rules apply to me?
A Benefits Counselor/Planner in your state can help you better understand the rules of the benefit offset. Go to the Benefits Planning page and select your state for information on how to contact a Benefits Counselor.
- Do I need to report my earnings every month?
How often you need to report your earnings will depend on what state you live in. Select your state from the menu on the left and then select the income reporting link for details on reporting earnings in your state. In general it is a good idea to report your earnings to the Pilot project staff in your state if you get a new job, leave a job or if your earnings change significantly (up or down).
- If I have not worked during the year, do I need to report my income to Social Security?
Yes, every pilot participant must report income at least yearly. If you are working below the SGA level, or not working at all, you need only report your income once a year to the pilot in your state. Reporting is typically done in February after W-2 statements have been received. Select your state from the menu on the left and then select the income reporting link for details on reporting earnings in your state.
- Can you help me find a job?
We do not help people find jobs, but we know the people who do. Go to the Employment Supports page and select your state for links to state specific employment resources.
- I am being discriminated against due to my disability. Who can help me?
Good resources are available to help you. Each state has an agency that provides Protection and Advocacy for individuals with disabilities that feel that they have been discriminated against. Please click on your state to visit the website of the Protection and Advocacy agency in your state:
- What should I do if I'm not sure that I'm getting the right amount of SSDI?
